As part of the Resilient Coastal Cities and Coalition Building Project, TNC co-led a workshop on nature and geospatial technology for the recently established city coalition of Semarang, Indonesia
New Jersey’s Coastal Resilience work has been successful in both the number of towns and communities that have used the Restoration Explorer tool to identify and implement a living shoreline project,, but also through the number of partners that have also incorporated the tool into their engagement efforts around coastal resilience planning and project identification.
The newest Coastal Resilience application, Ecosystem Effects of Sea Level Rise, went on road trip around the island of Hawai‘i last June 12-16th.
The Nature Conservancy is working with the state Department of Ecology, Sea Grant and others through the Washington Coastal Resilience Project (WCRP) to update Washington’s coastal planning guidance on sea-level rise, and are using Coastal Resilience to visualize flooding potential for communities in the hopes of influencing restoration decisions to maintain resilience along a changing coastline.
Members of TNC’s Climate Risk and Resilience (CRR) strategy represented TNC’s work in Mexico and the organization’s perspective on nature-based solutions to disaster risk reduction at the United Nation’s Strategy for Disaster Reduction’s (UNISDR) 2017 Global Platform in Cancun, Mexico.
