LGC FORUM: 3rd California Adaptation Forum

Join us for the 3rd California Adaptation Forum!
From the near disaster at the Oroville Dam to a record-setting 106 degree day in San Francisco to the wildfires currently devastating the wine country, 2017 will be one for the record books and a reminder for our urgent need to address the many climate impacts affecting community members, local economies, and valuable ecosystems throughout California.
Through engaging sessions, networking activities, workshops and tours, the Forum will bring together policymakers, planners, practitioners, and community members from many sectors and disciplines to:
  • Address current challenges and emerging trends in climate resilience work – from politics to extreme weather events to technological advancements and socioeconomic factors,
  • Set the stage for a post-Brown climate agenda through agency and stakeholder discussions,
  • Provide hands-on access to the latest tools and resources being deployed across the state,
  • Showcase real-world examples of strategies that have increased community resilience,
  • Highlight the latest financing and funding strategies, and
  • Give participants an up-close review of the latest research on climate impacts and solutions from the 4th Climate Assessment.

Interest Areas & Session “Mini-Proposals” Survey
To ensure that the Forum features relevant content for participants, we are conducting a brief survey to gather input on interest areas. We are also offering an opportunity for participants to submit ideas for sessions, network meetings, and workshops.
Please note that we will not be conducting an open call for proposals and if you are hoping to organize a session at the Forum, you must complete the survey. Learn more about our new program development process at californiaadaptationforum.org/program.

The biennial California Adaptation Forum is organized by the Local Government Commission (LGC). LGC supports local policymakers and implementers through nationally recognized events, cost-effective technical assistance, and policy guidance on climate change, energy, water, and community design.
