Mapping the reef: video in Grenada

Esri and The Nature Conservancy have produced a new video highlighting how advanced GIS mapping technology can illustrate the strategic goals and impact of natural infrastructure designs. In January 2015, the At the Water’s Edge (AWE) project installed experimental underwater structures to reduce wave energy eroding the shores of Grenville, Grenada. The nature-based design strengthens an existing reef and contributes to ecosystem-based infrastructure and climate change strategies among small islands. Using Esri’s web mapping technology, the AWE team and their partners can use their ecological and socio-economic data to visualize the impact of the experiment, inform next-steps, and ultimately share their innovative approach with coastal communities throughout the world.

The video was launched at the Ocean GIS Forum on November 5, 2015
