WEBINAR: Coastal Adaptation Planning & Engagement in Imperial Beach

Guest Speakers

Ed Spriggs was first elected City Council in November of 2010. He was re-elected in November of 2014. His major goal is improving the quality of life for all residents of Imperial Beach. Ed’s community involvement previously included membership on streetscape improvement work groups, the Ecotourism Committee, the Mayor’s Advisory Committee, and the Tidelands Advisory Committee.

Danielle Boudreau is the Coastal Management Specialist at the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve (TRNERR).  As part of the Coastal Training Program, she provides science-based training and technical assistance to binational coastal decision-makers in the San Diego and Baja California regions. Currently, she is managing the Reserve’s climate change and resilience efforts. Previously, Danielle worked with The Nature Conservancy to advance coastal adaptation in North Carolina, while pursuing her masters in Environmental Management and Geospatial Analysis at Duke University. Dr. David Revell is the founder and chief scientist at Revell Coastal with 20+ years of experience in coastal geomorphology and management. David’s projects range from evaluating coastal hazards to lagoon restoration to fisheries management and coastal and marine spatial planning. Dr. Revell has been active in many ground breaking climate change projects across California including the technical coastal hazards modeling for the Pacific Institute, The Nature Conservancy’s Coastal Resilience projects, and collaborative work in the Monterey Bay and San Diego regions looking at adaptation economics. Dr. Revell is currently engaged in many vulnerability and adaptation studies along the California Coast including: Imperial Beach, San Diego, Carlsbad, Santa Monica, Oxnard, Santa Barbara (city and county), Goleta, Los Osos, Pacific Grove, Monterey (city and county), and Santa Cruz County.
