SUMMARY:NETWORK WEBINAR: Engaging Marginalized Groups in Coastal Planning
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Network on November 15 from 12 – 1PM\, for a webinar titled\, Overcoming obstacles to community engagement: Including marginalized populations in restoration planning in the face of immigration\, language and educational barriers in South Oxnard. We will hear from Lucas Zucker\, Policy and Communications Director at CAUSE (Central Coast Alliance for a Sustainable Economy)\, and Lily Verdone\, Coastal Project Director at The Nature Conservancy\, about their work in partnership with the State Coastal Conservancy to engage marginalized community members in developing a vision for coastal access at Ormond Beach. Learn how they were able to work together creatively to engage with oftentimes marginalized community members\, overcoming immigration\, language and even education barriers to ensure that all community members have a say in envisioning the future of the Oxnard coast. \n CAUSE youth surveyed over 300 South Oxnard residents about the restoration of the Ormond Beach Wetlands.
